Welcome to the Dynasty Watch. For those of you playing in deep dynasty leagues, this is where we’ll help you keep track of some bench stashes. These are players who have a small chance of becoming regular contributors, but for the few that do, we’ll try and help you beat your league-mates to the punch.
We’ll chronicle any upticks in usage or production each week, so be sure to read the previous Dynasty Watch articles to get a season-long picture.
Quarterbacks
Jacob Eason (Ind) — As Philip Rivers continues to struggle, Eason may see his timeline bumped forward. We can’t imagine the Colts would start him this season, but we also can’t imagine Rivers returning in 2021.
Running Backs
D'Ernest Johnson (Cle) — While Johnson took a clear backseat to Kareem Hunt, the UDFA out of South Florida did enough with his limited opportunities to keep him on our radar. With Hunt cramping in the 4th quarter, Johnson broke a big run to help ice the game. He finished with 8/32 yards and 1/4 receiving.
DeeJay Dallas (Sea) — We mentioned last week that Seattle really likes Dallas, and although he didn’t see the field with Chris Carson and Travis Homer in front of him, Greg Cosell told us that Dallas fits the Carson mold that the Seahawks covet. Carson is a free agent in 2021.
Travis Homer (Sea) — Homer again operated as Chris Carson’s change-of-pace back, rushing 3 times for 14 yards. With Carlos Hyde banged up, Homer’s snaps have slowly but steadily increased: 8, 15, 15, and 23. Perhaps the Seahawks have found their new Rashaad Penny.
Wide Receivers
Cedrick Wilson (Dal) — Wilson is still getting action in the slot, though his snaps did dip for the third straight game (28, 18, 15). Wilson caught 4-of-4 targets for 22 yards, but his most valuable play was a TD pass to Dak Prescott.
Darnell Mooney (Chi) — Mooney outsnapped Anthony Miller 41-26 (though Miller is almost exclusively a slot guy, while Mooney plays both outside and in the slot). He posted 2/15 on 5 targets, but he was overthrown on a long TD that would have greatly changed his production. Mooney isn’t going away.
Travis Fulgham (Phi) — Fulgham scored another TD for Philadelphia, and now has 12/209/2 in his last two games. With the Eagles decimated at receiver, Fulgham is making the most of his opportunity.
John Hightower (Phi) — Operating primarily as their X receiver, Hightower led all Eagles receivers in snaps (48) in Week 5, making it the 3rd week in a row of heavy usage with DeSean Jackson still out. Hightower only caught 2 of his 6 targets, but one was a 2-pt conversion.
Collin Johnson (Jax) — Johnson stepped in for D.J. Chark when Chark went down with an ankle injury, and the 5th-round rookie posted 3/30/1 on 4 targets. Chark’s ankle injury could mean Johnson sees more time over the next few weeks.
Olamide Zaccheaus (Atl) — Zaccheaus continues to see playing time with Julio Jones injured. The UDFA out of Maryland now has 13 catches on 19 targets, with 140 yards in his last three games. He’s played 54, 53, and 63 snaps, respectively in those games.
Tight Ends
None of note.
