Welcome to the Dynasty Watch. For those of you playing in deep dynasty leagues, this is where we’ll help you keep track of some bench stashes. These are players who have a small chance of becoming regular contributors, but for the few that do, we’ll try and help you beat your league-mates to the punch.
We’ll chronicle any upticks in usage or production each week, so be sure to read the previous Dynasty Watch articles to get a season-long picture.
Quarterbacks

Running Backs
Salvon Ahmed (Mia) — With the Dolphins backfield a messy combo of injuries and ineffectiveness, the door has creaked open for the passing-down RB out of the University of Washington. Ahmed led Miami with 38 yards on 7 attempts, though oddly enough he wasn’t targeted. In college, Ahmed was the backup to - get this - Myles Gaskin. He certainly has more of a future in this new-look Miami offense than Jordan Howard. A speedy back with returner traits, Ahmed has an outside shot as a 3rd-down back at some point.
D’Onta Foreman (Ten) — Foreman was set to play a major role for Houston before he tore his Achilles, but is now on his third team. We’re intrigued by any back that could be Derrick Henry’s handcuff (since the Titans offense leans so heavily on the run). So far, Foreman has back-to-back games of 5 carries each, but he could move into the direct backup role if he can show he’s 80-90% the player he was pre-injury.
Wide Receivers
Jakeem Grant (Mia) — Grant has been a super-sub for Miami, filling in as the 5th passing option and returning both punts and kickoffs. With Preston Williams carted off the field last week and Isaiah Ford recently traded, Grant will see his usage increase. With Williams absent, Grant caught 4 of 5 passes for 38 yards.
Marcus Johnson (Ind) — Although Johnson’s Week 9 output wasn’t much - 2/14 - he did lead the team in targets and now has 19 targets over his last three games. As T.Y. Hilton’s star fades, Johnson is making a play to be involved next to Michael Pittman and Parris Campbell.
Cam Sims (Was) — Sims made our list in Week 8 because his size (6’5”) and talent makes you sit up and take notice. In Week 9, he churned that combination into a 3/110 line on 4 targets. That’s most likely an outlier for now, but this article was built for players like Sims.
Austin Mack (NYG) — While Golden Tate sat in the doghouse, Mack took advantage of his limited opportunity, catching 4 passes on 5 targets for 72 yards. On a team that needs to turn over a few leaves, the former Ohio State wideout could be in the mix for WR3 duties if/when the team moves on from Tate.
Marvin Hall (Det) — With Kenny Golladay struggling to stay on the field, we’ve seen Hall’s targets go from 1-2 per game to 12 over the last two games. With Marvin Jones (30) and Danny Amendola (35) getting up there (not to mention Golladay’s injury history), Hall and Quintez Cephus are both in the mix to move up the depth chart in the coming years.
