Rick Kamla

College Football Contributor

Rick introduced fantasy basketball at Sigma Nu Fraternity on the campus of the University of Minnesota in 1989 with a 10-team league that he hand-scored and won because of a GOAT named Magic. He began his sports media career in 1994 as a fantasy football and basketball writer for Fanball.com/Fantasy Football Weekly. That led to Rick being discovered by NBA TV to host the first-ever live fantasy basketball show called “Virtual GM,” which popularized fantasy hoops worldwide. Rick hosted that show for a decade and spent 17 years at NBA TV as a host, play-by-play announcer, and emcee. Rick can be heard these days on SiriusXM NBA Radio M-F from 1-4 PM Eastern and Mad Dog Sports Radio on Saturdays from 3-7 PM Eastern. Rick has also hosted local radio shows in Atlanta and Houston, and on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.

Rick graduated from the University of Minnesota after majoring in history and minoring in speech communications. He lives in Largo, FL, with his wife and baby girl, who loves long walks on the beach. Rick is too consumed with his countless fantasy and dynasty leagues in the realms of NFL, CFB, MLB, NBA, and NHL to be bothered with fandom for the Vikings or Timberwolves, from whom he successfully divorced years ago. He remains a fan of the Gophers and Twins, despite his disdain for the gimmicky PJ Fleck and an MLB-record 18-game postseason losing streak. Rick has been competing in college fantasy football leagues for a decade, and he is riding a three-peat into the 2023 CFB season.
