Week 13 Streaming DSTs

If you are one of those hooligans who streams defenses each week, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll be looking for 50% rostered or less in Yahoo! Leagues.

Miami Dolphins (Mia, 43%) vs. NYG

How the Dolphins D is still available in more than half the leagues (in Yahoo!) is beyond me. We had them as a top-5 defense coming into the season but their top corners Xavien Howard and Byron Jones spent several weeks dealing with multiple injuries. Since their health has improved — which coincided with the ascension of rookie standout safety Jevon Holland — Miami’s defense has been the #2 DST. This week they face Daniel Jones and a revamped Giants offense that mustered just 13 points last week, even with the 3 gift interceptions that Jalen Hurts threw them.

Minnesota Vikings (Min, 17%) @ Det

This Vikings D has had a brutal schedule lately. Their last five opponents have been the Cowboys, Ravens, Chargers, Packers, and 49ers. Here’s the thing: they've finished in the top-12 in four of those matchups. Even without Danielle Hunter, they lead the league in sacks (33). They’ve had at least 2 sacks in every game, and have 9 INTs as well. This week they face a winless Lions team that Minnesota handled back in Week Five. The Vikings D held Detroit to 17 points while sacking Jared Goff 4 times and adding an INT and a fumble recovery.

Kansas City Chiefs (KC, 26%) vs. Den

A tale of two halves. That’s the name of my new novel-turned-blurb on Kansas City’s defense. Through Week Five, the Chiefs D averaged 33 PA with just 7 sacks and 3 INTs in those five games. Since the benching of Daniel Sorensen, the shifting of Chris Jones back to DT, and the elevating of younger/faster LBs Willie Gay, Jr. and Nick Bolton, they’ve kept every opponent but one (Tennessee) to under 20 points. In their last five games, they’ve averaged 14.8 PA and have 12 sacks and 6 INTs. Up next is a home game versus a Denver team averaging 19.2 PA in their last five games, surrendering 12 sacks over that span. The Chiefs are favored by 10 points.
